Warranty Information on James Hardie Residential Fiber Cement Siding in Texas

James Hardie® siding comes with a 30-year limited warranty. To benefit from this warranty, you must follow some guidelines, the most notable being – ensuring the siding is installed the right way by true professionals.

James Hardie® Siding Warranty: Coverage Requirements

Proper installation: James Hardie® siding warranty applies only if the siding is installed correctly as per the printed installation requirements. The siding also needs to comply with every building code applicable. The importance of using seasoned contractors can’t be overlooked.

Written notice: To utilize the warranty, a covered person also needs to provide written notice within a month (30 days) after discovering any defect covered by the warranty. The notice must be provided before any permanent repairs are done. The notice must be detailed with location, defect, and any other necessary information. Photos showing the defect must be included. Lastly, the claimant must provide proof that they are a covered person.

Allow access to Hardie/Hardie’s authorized agents: Before conducting any repairs, authorized Hardie/Hardie’s agents must be allowed to inspect the installation and take pictures and samples of the siding.

What Isn’t Covered?

1. Defects or damage related to improper storage, handling, shipping, or installation of siding isn’t covered
2. Siding that has been processed, altered, or modified after shipping 
3. Siding that has been repaired 
4. Damage resulting from incorrect structure design
5. Damage resulting from exceeding the max. designed wing loads
6. Damage from acts of God like floods, tornadoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural phenomena
7. Peeling, efflorescence, or performance of any 3rd party stains, paints and/or coating
8. Growth of mildew, mold, bacteria, fungi or other organisms on the siding’s surface
9. Damage resulting from poor maintenance

What Will You Get?

Valid claims that fall within the warranty period are attended to. Defective siding will either be repaired or replaced. If repairs have been done as per the warranty guidelines, Hardie will reimburse such costs.

Colorplus Technology 15-Year Warranty

Siding that comes with James Hardie® finishes (ColorPlus® Technology) are subject to a 15-year express limited product warranty. As per the warranty, the finish lasts as designed (doesn't peel, chip, or crack) if the siding is used for the intended purpose, installed, and maintained properly as per the guidelines that are sold with the siding.

In a valid claim (as per the warranty guidelines), covered persons can expect to be reimbursed reasonable fees for labor and paint to cover repairs for the damaged portion/s.
